I grew up around wood. My grandfather was a carpenter. He didn't teach me any of this, but it's my small way of honoring him a bit.

Now I get to work with beautiful species found here in the Pacific Northwest and carry a little of that forward, turning pens and bowls by hand instead of running them off a line. Oregon makes that easy. Between the forests and the natural beauty all around me, it's hard not to feel connected to the wood I'm working with and where it came from.
